I wanted to quickly follow up on my previous thread. I mentioned the e9 introduction to SESF a few months ago and got a decent number of responses from those who expressed some interest in joining us for the '14 event. I would really like to see a decent gathering of e9's, but I want to make sure there is at least some serious interest from the community.
The date is tentatively set for the weekend of May 3rd. For those who have never been, the itinerary begins on Thursday evening with an informal dinner and continues with a mountain drive on Friday (generally partially escorted by police, but not always). Saturday is show day - just relaxation, music, food, etc. Dinner during the awards ceremony on Saturday is included with registration (and we usually try to throw in another meal or two during some portion of the event... it all depends on the funds available for each year). Registration fee's vary, but are usually in the range of $60-80/pp.
We want to make a commitment to include the e9 model into the event - most likely in the event clothing, images etc, but only if there is real interest. Location is TBD at this point but has historically been in the Carolina's/Tennessee area (and of course our founding town of Scottsboro, AL).
We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this event every year and we would love to make you folks welcome - that being said, we want to know that there is interest. Visit the site (www.bmwsharkfest.org) to see pictures from past events.
Southeast Sharkfest has ALWAYS welcomed ANY model to our events - we have never been, nor will ever be, exclusive to the e24 or any other chassis... hell we've had a Subaru (see 2012 photos for that gem).
That being said, creating a separate judging class, awards etc is time and resource consuming.
My one request is that you please respond to this thread if you seriously think you would like to be part of the fun - that way we can make a final determination as to whether a separate class is warranted. Again, even if we don't create a separate class in the end, any e9 is always welcome!
