spare tire sizes that fit in the e9 spare tire well

question for those who run 205/70-14 tire sizes (comp t/a for instance). is your spare tire a comp t/a and does it fit in the tire well? the 205/70-14 is 8.2" wide x 25.4" diam. as we know, the 195/70-14 is 7.9" wide x 24.7 to 24.9" diam.

my real curiosity is whether a 15" wheel + tire will fit. such as a 205/60-15 or a 215/60-15.

I think a 195 60 15 will work. Khumo, Michelin, Pirelli, continental all make tires this size. The wheel can't be more than 6" wide. Maybe 6.5" but you will need to measure to be safe.

I have a 16" wheel in my stock spare tire well. You can make a 15" work as long as it is no wider than 6". Finding the right combination will be tough.

hmmm ... what size tire is on that 16? i presume that is a 7" wide rim. Coupeking (Peter) told me that it wouldn't fit. i would go out and try - if my coupe was in the garage. its in the spa getting some paint touchups - fender lips and a few other minor things.

I had an 8" Alpina cut down to 6" to fit the unmodified factory spare wheel well. The tire is a Michelin 195 60 16 and fits snuggly in the spare tire well. Check your phone,I sent some links and tire sizes that might work.

well i guess i could have a 6" or 6.5" RS wheel made and put a 195/60-16 on it. the thought was to buy a bbs wheel that came on a late 80's / early 90's e34 ... that is a 15" x 7" wheel. that is - IF a 205 width tire fits in the well.

so the question remains for anybody with a 205 width tire that fits in the spare tire well the 205 is about 8.2" wide and the 195 is about 7.8' (+/- .1")
