Looks like I will be learning how to remove my Speedo gauge today. The center cap fell off the needle. Does anyone know if it just snaps back on or do I need to glue it?

I’ve tried rotating the Speedo in every direction and angle to slide it over into left gauge side but can not seem to. Have others needed to remove the post for the knurled nuts to get it to clear?

There are two 8mm nuts that hold the cluster wood in place. One on each end. You can remove them all the way and push the cluster forward or loosen them enough for the speedo to clear.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. I gave up and went inside to have a scotch (or two). I was about to loosen the back nut on the center of the gauge to push it in a bit but was unsure if that would disturb anything inside.

You should do it tonight. They come right out after a scotch or two! :D

The speedo needs to be flipped 180 degrees then it and be finessed down through the metal dash support pieces and out. Reguires a mixture of patience and blind zen but it can be done.

Speedo is out! I ended up loosening the center nut on the back and pushing the face dial into the housing about 1/8” and then was able to instantly slide it over without any more drama.

Gransin, thanks for your post. It was very helpful and worked perfectly following your detailed instructions.

The center cap was just glued onto the needle. Still not sure what I will use to glue it back on.
