I pulled my speedo out and brought it to a local shop to repair the odometer Which was not working.

They repaired the odometer but now the speedometer reading wildly high. I brought the speedo back to the shop and they say that I am mistaken - they claim that there is no way this could true. They refuse to belive me.

The car is a 4 speed - but was originally an automatic.

Any hints as to what is amiss.

Thanks,

Is it higher but steady or erratic?
If it is steady they may have put in the wrong gears in it.

The tachometer and speedo needles should be parallel when driviing
in 4th gear in the reasonable rev ranges. Most rational stock cars seem
to be designed that way when the transmission is in its 1:1 gear. If they
are not parallel get your money back.
