So it's exhaust time, who's got the best system.? I've seen and heard Coupe King's system, is there anything else out there or has anyone had a system fab'ed locally?

Thanks, Doug

coupe king exhaust

I purchased Coupe King entire system : exhaust plus headers, looks great underneath ,fits perfectly, sounds great.Even though,I try to keep my 1973 verona red csi as original as possible Coupe king's exhaust system adds value to my car and the sound also adds character to my car

What does it take to install? Can this be done yourself? How about the performance is there any hp increase?

Coupe King

Coupe King provides all the necessary hardware. I am not a handyman, so I had it done but my mechanics told me that everything went easily. Unfortunately for the HP increase I didn't dyno test it yet. I had it done before a major tune up and the installation of the exhaust system. I am planning to dyno test it by the end of april. I will get back to you with the results.

But I can tell you that I feel there has been an HP increase, I am very satisfied . The look is really nice, very clean underneath and again the sound is really great no comparaison with the original system and it's good for a lifetime.

CoupeKing, another vote

I did about six months of research before purchasing the full stainless system, including B35 exhaust manifolds, from Peter and Erik. Nothing else came close in my view aside from perhaps what Paul Cain has on his monster engine (full custom system). CoupeKing has done a serious amount of R & D on their system to make the fitment just right and sound about perfect in my view (with the muffler carrot).

My engine combo was supposed to put out 218 in stock trim but my car dyno'd at 233 hp after the exhaust was installed. I did notice a slight drop in lower rpm power but much more urge in the mid to higher rpm range. That's probably due to the larger diameter exhaust manifolds. Good luck.

Better CoupeKing sound reproduction - new video

Hey guys, and thanks Glenn in Encinitas. The link Glenn provided was done on my iphone (before I realized how poor the microphone was). This new video link was shot by my son last week with a new HD camera he checked out from his high school. I make no appologies for his video mastery...as they say, pay no attention to the man behind the mirror.

Keep in mind that Coupeking does that exhaust in ceramic coating also.
We shot the exhaust manifolds on one yesterday with my digital pyrometer [IR] and saw much cooler than stock temps- amazing difference in engine bay temps also.
Best coupe exhaust I know of.

Your car looks and sounds great - well done!

I'm diggin' it! Would ceramic coating on the whole exhaust up to the the mufflers lower the temperature in the cabin during the summers? Sometimes it gets pretty warm and I've been thinking of wrapping the middle section. I'd prefer ceramic or similar coating due to the fact that nothing would be falling off or coming unwrapped.

My car is like a freakin' oven, even after running the thermal dynamat in the cabin, over the tranny hump, and all the way up the firewall. Im not convinced that was anything other than a waste of money. Ill add it to the list...

I liked that heat shield idea, but I wonder if there is enough clearance between the exhaust and the floor/tunnel. If there's room, my guess is it would clearly help. Would both ceramic coating as well as a heatshield be even more effective? Would it be worth it?

As an alternative to missing Heat Shield, I am contemplating using these self adhesive sheets from Wurth:

I realize they are considered Sound Deadening material, but they do have metallic/foil type finish which i presume will work as an insulator.
I have used them on the firewall of a Porsche 914 quite effectively.

Any thoughts?

Those are for sound and resonance, not heat although it might help. A similar material is available from B-Quiet, I have just ordered a roll for my 2002 and it is being used by Coupeking on his restorations with good results. And it's cheaper than the product you referenced.

I would think you'd want the airspace that a shield would provide in order to prevent as much heat soak as possible
