My buddy Bart got laid off from work so he’s pulling the pedals out of a rotted out Bavaria I picked up in Hudson, NY. Should he pull the pedals out of the channel they are nestled in or pull the channel out with the pedals in it as an assembly ? I guess what I really need to know is that channel (it’s actually a hat section) the same in the automatic car and the stick car ? Might as well ask  if there is any “been there, did that” tips or tricks on this job ? Thank you in advance. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Auto to manual

Pull the pedals. The auto brake is larger.

Here's some ref. material from SSR-http://www.seniorsix.org/faq/auto2man.html

It contains a list of items to pull..

Thanks, but my fault , I should have been a little clearer in my posted question. Do the Bavaria clutch & brake pedals fit right into the coupe channel / hat section ? I’m not doing a Bavaria to Bavaria swap and I should have been more clear about that . ~ John Buchtenkirch

John,

The pedals from the Bav should fit directly in the hat section you describe. There once was online on the CS Registry a fact section which contained an article from Carl Nelson ( and others) that described the swap in detail. That site has been merged with this site; but perhaps someone here has a hard copy to share until the Tech section returns here?

The Senior Six article was to point out smaller items that can be used such as the brake fluid resevoir with the extra outlet for the clutch that an auto car doesn't have or the wiring.

Also, as I think about it harder- Getrag 265s were used in Mercedes; but not mentioned as sources. Perhaps others here know which cars to look out for....
