Having ordered floor and trunk mats from Coco mats, I’m beginning to start the winter detailing, starting with under the hood. I now have a steam cleaner for doing the interior..

My main question is: Do any of you have experience in steam cleaning the headliner with steam? Do I also need a special cleaning spray?

Many thanks and Seasons Greetings to one and all

No experience steam cleaning the headliner for me. Mine was absolutely filthy when I got it, and it had a tear in the material. One of the first things I tackled was cleaning the headliner with a cleaner that I have used on a number of cars over the years and really like. I use Nextzett cockpit premium interior cleaner. It did an amazing job on a very dirty headliner. I ended up replacing it anyway as the small tear drove me crazy...

Mine is pretty clean with one spot on it. Will the Nextzett cockpit get it out, is it better than 409?

The steam cleaning worked on the headliner, no chemicals, or heavy saturation. Simply put a microfibre cloth over the steam nozzle. I then applied the steam cleaner throughout the interior, including the carpet and floor mats. I’m quite happy with the results. As a result I decided to finally, after over 50 years, to replace the floor mats and trunk carpet, lost many years ago during the bare metal restoration. CoCo mats sent me exact paper templates for verification prior to ordering. They’ve just arrived and are terrific. My next little project is to address the toolkit. It’s all there, including the famous red handle screwdriver and never used spark plugs.lol. All I need to find is a replacement cover.
