Does the "standard" e24 4-spoke steering wheel have the same spline as a late (1974) 4-spoke e9 wheel? How about horn contacts?
Thanks for any info.

The early (pre 83 or 84???) coarse spline steering wheels will fit. They use the same horn contact rings as the E9. The later fine spline (more teeth) wheels will not fit, they also use a different steering wheel locking mechanism. Case in point: the 4 spoke Alpina steering wheel bolts right on to both coupes. Believe the coarse spline teeth count numbers in the mid 30's and the fine spline wheel numbers in the low 50's.

Dave, I still have one- I think it's off an 83, in really good shape- yours for the price of shipping... but if you want it I will have to count the splines :-) That will cost you :-)

Only kidding- let me know if you need one.

splines...

Thanks for the info Bert, that helps a bunch...
Peter, that's the info I needed to make sure that I didn't end up with more for the wall of shame...I'll send a PM tomorrow; appreciate the kind offer.

Hi guys, I've been off the grid for a while.

Just seen this thread and it made me wonder: I often see wheels on eBay etc. for the 02 range, will these fit our range of cars?

2002 steering wheels will physically fit on the splines of the shaft, but the horn connection is totally different.
