When I bought my '73 CS, it had a wooden Momo Alpina wheel (going up for sale once I've resolved this issue). I prefer prefer the feel of leather, especially on longer trips (i.e. Will be taking the coupe from Philadelphia to the Vintage in May), so I found a nice leather Nardi with a E9 hub and BMW horn button. Eureka!

But as we all know, there's always something when dealing with a coupe. This time the problem is that I'm unable to break the nut holding the Momo on. Is there a trick I need to know, or do I have find an impact wrench and go gorilla?

Any advice would be appreciated.

mine loosened with a breaker bar. From reading some older posts I was all ready to go apesheet on the nut. But with a good hold of the wheel and a little effort the nut came loose on the first try. Others have used an impact wrench.
Do not rely on turning the wheel to the extreme left to hold it steady.
Now, go out there and bust a nut (loose)!

Someone must have really torqued that nut on there. I would try an extension on the socket and a breaker bar before resorting to an air wrench. Maybe use an impact socket so that you don't round off the nut.

EDIT: kwyjibo beat me to it...
