I posted this in the E3 forum also. But it's applicable in both forums.

I have a pretty original E3 with the original push button AM/FM Blaupunkt stereo. The only speaker is the one above the instrument cluster in the dash. And it all works!

I want to update the system, but I can't stand the idea of cutting holes in the door panels or the back dash. And I love the look of the original Blaupunkt. But I loves my tunes.

Any ideas?

several solutions for you including rebuilding/ upgrading your existing system to accept iphone adaptor. I ended up purchasing a push button and then upgraded which include higher wattage to drive a 6 speak system. head set looks original and all speakers are hidden. Company I used was Electro Tech in MN I believe. Search on the site, should come up.

Here's an idea: you can put a small box speaker on the floor against the front/bottom of the front seats. In the olden days you could find wedge shaped car speakers (the box was wedge shaped), and these would mount up easily with a couple simple brackets. While not small, I had a pair of ADS box speakers mounted this way on one of my old E3's. Combined with a set of "plate" speakers mounted in the panel under the rear seat leading edge and some woofers on the rear deck ... I thought the sound was acceptable (everything run thru a 4 channel equalizer mounted to the underside of the parcel shelf).

And ... if the box were flat enough, it could be secured to the floor. A custom sized box can easily be made using 1/4" ABS plastic sheet and ABS glue. More than strong enough and friendly to auto environmental conditions.

The JBL is cheaper than the Bose, and louder. I could not tell the difference in sound quality outside the car except that it had higher volume. The price, $99.00 could be used with a smartphone or tablet. Re posting a picture of my set up- no holes to drill, stays put, sounds good (enough) and I can set up / remove in seconds. My work is a bit sloppy but it could be made to look nicer. Total cost was around 300.00 with the tablet. I also have an inverter in the glove box and the wires charge my phone, tablet, speaker and ipod.
