Hello Guys,
My car is painted now, all done, thank God, Finally! now that its done and ready to assemble by the interior shop, I have been thinking about putting in a strong and reliable BMW engine, like an M3 or? but have no idea what is the best approach to this, I have spent lots of money on the 3.0 engine it currently have but I want more, I hear so many stories about good powerful engines but as I said don't know where to start, any ideas? its a 72 with 3.0 and 4 speed trans, is there anything simple and cost fairly to do? any thoughts, ideas or comments i will appreciate greatly.

Regards,
Nathan

The most common swap is to go with more displacement. The M30 can be fairly easily stroked/bored up to ~3.8L. That should net you in the 240 rwhp range.

I like the euro spec m30 b35 engine- 10/1 compression with 218 hp.
Add a port and polish with a schrick 280 cam and you have a very fun machine.

Alternatively, if you want to retain some originality, you could do a Motronic swap and call up Turbocharging Dynamics. Their turbo kit should be able to fit our coupes, and it would put you in the ~350rwhp range with a stage 2 kit. I would be very concerned about the body welds at that point, though, given that the chassis is about as stiff as a wet noodle.
