Sunroof handle

My sunroof handle has the annoying problem of randomly dropping to the extended position, and I cannot help myself from pushing it back up and so on in perpetuum. This all started when it was taken apart to replace the wind gasket, and nobody could fix it so far.
What is the secret to holding this in place? It has a pin that goes through the center and a metal behind it presumably to create resistance.

I can't remember if it was here or on the 2002FAQ, someone was making the little horseshoe spring that goes in the handle to hold it up

There must be a little flat spring in there that pushes the handle up...If not, would be easy to add under that cover..
