I have my electrical sunroof receiving power again after 2 years idle. Wondering if there are some maintenance tips to keep the guides, motor, whatever, lubricated and in the best condition for normal operation. Any actual experience in performing some pro-active service? Thanks for your input. Mike

WD-40 makes a Garage Door lubricant spray which doesn't collect dirt. I use it on my 2002Tii sunroof cables every few years.
Also polish the visible rails with a quality polish then wax them.

I open and close mine here and there even when it is garaged and going nowhere. There is a product called Slideze (parafifn based) which I bought for lubricating drawers in antique furniture, I use that on my alum bits. Like above, lubricates without having stuff stick to it.

I struggled to rebuild my sunroof three times. I think I read every thread at least that many times. One of the problems I believed occurred after I greased the cables — I think they started sliding on the sun roof motor gears so one cable was running slower than the other. I think Barry.b wrote about too much oil on his gears and subsequent slippage. My plan it same as bavbob ... until it fails.
