I left Canmore Wednesday pm and drove south along the front range of the Rockies into Montana and then hung a right turn and followed US 2 and 20 to Burlington,WA and then north to Tswassen outside of Vancouver. This was mostly secondary highway through small towns and almost continuous National Forests with fantastic twisty roads up and down about a dozen passes and it was all freshly paved through the parks. And virtually no traffic.

Drive back to Canmore today should take less than 10 hours for a total distance of maybe 2000 miles?

My happy car is smiling with bugs in it's teeth.

How cruel Doug. What have you got against Bugs?

Must have been some lovely scenery.

Buggy

Removal with the judicious use of hot water and a large sponge to soften the splatter. Or I could just leave the car outside and let the hornets keep chowing down. They came from miles around to feast every time I stopped. A great drive yesterday through the interior BC and Rogers Pass - 650 miles in 10 hours.

Ben - what's happening with the Aviation Museum and the Lancaster? My brother mentioned there was a problem with the building lease?

Doug, that is some good land speed considering how picky the RCMP is about speed in my experience. I will be back out West this winter for sure. As for the Canadian Air and Space museum, we are going to a meeting tonight to see if we can turn around the eviction. Lancaster FM 104 is being booted out of the old De Havilland plant where the Beaver bush plane was first built, as well as the De Havilland Mosquito to make way for a multiplex of Hockey rinks.(Yes Canada needs more Hockey rinks) The building is one of the last vestiges of the Canadian Industrial war effort. It sits across the field where Bombardier tests their Challengers and other planes. It also houses the full size Avro Arrow reproduction which was built over ten years by Volunteers. No idea what will happen to our Project when we have to leave. It is owned by the City of Toronto. Supposedly we will only gain access to the building to pack up the Lanc and hit the road within 6 months. I have offered to store a Merlin in my Garage!

Bob.

Merlin in a Coupe?

Don't be fooled by Bob's seemingly innocent offer to store a Rolls Royce Merlin engine in his garage - he intends to retrofit this thing in his newly acquired e9. Might be a bit tight.

How many in Alberta?

Hello Doug

Since I am very new to this forum and not certain of the fate of my vehicle, I was wondering how many E9s, to your knowledge, are in Alberta? Over the last twenty years I think I have seen less than 6 different ones in Edmonton as well as Calgary. The strangest one was a metallic green example.

P.S.: And as always be careful of the RCs on Highway 2 and the Crow's Nest Pass.

I still haven't figured out where to put the 50 Gallon Oil tank.

HowMany in Alberta?

Andrew:

Right now I can think of seven and a parts car. I'm sure there are others but they are mentioned in the " I know a guy that has/had one" context. You're in Calgary - right?

The 02 Alberta guys are mostly e10 people but there are few with e9. Very mechanically savvy bunch that have helped me out on both cars.

Edmonton

Hello Doug

No, I live in Edmonton. There is a person who works in our office that had an old 5 series and belonged to a BMW club, but he sold the vehicle and no longer belongs to the club.
