Is it straight forward to swap out the big bumpers with the traditional skinnier chrome bumpers or is it a big job?

I'm in the process right now. If you are restoring your car it makes thing a lot easier. There is a considerable amount of filler work that needs to be done. In the rear there are three shock points that need to filled in along with a lot of smaller holes that the black rubber closure piece used. Putting the early rear bumper is straight forward to install. You have the same small holes in the front to deal with also. In addition in the front the mounting is different so the shock points need to be modified to accept the early bumper mounting brackets. In my case I did not think that far ahead so I'm trying to deal with all of these issues without doing the body work. For the fronts I purchased an adaptor from Coupeking here in Wilmington. They bolt onto the early bumper and fit nicely into the same location as the original shocks. I found a small plug that fits into all of the small holes previously mentioned and I going to paint them the color of the car and I think they will pretty much disappear. In the rear I have not figured what to do with the three shock points but I have an idea to manufacture something to fill them in. Definately if your going to be restoring now is the time to make the change.

Bumper Swap

Odd that the photobucket URL's from my previous posts no longer work...they did some upgrades to the site recently, maybe that is the issue. I will see what I can do to organize the pic's and get them back up. I did supply Peter / Erik of CoupeKing with six more sets of the tubes back in March...not sure if they have any left to sell. I believe they charge $160.
At present there are at least a dozen sets that have been sold and are out there, David's car being one. In fact, as I recall, David brought a set that I sold to him with him to Peter, Peter liked the concept and I then sold to him exclusively. I make no money on this and shipping is the expensive bit. Far more cost effective for me to ship to one source only. The reward for me was the validation of the idea by one esteemed in the biz as is Peter. At this point I am unsure whether to do another run, time consuming it is. I had hoped that the market was saturated, maybe we are not done yet...more later...
