The story starts about a year ago. A 2800 CS at bankruptcy auction fails to sell and I get atop that it is still at the auction house. I check out the car and it has terminal tin worm. But the engine fires right up. Looks neglected, not abused, many good parts.

I figure, I could part this baby out and make a few. Ickes and make a bunch of people happy. So, I place a bid, one bid, one time, best shot. I get outbid by a couple of bucks. I meet the new owner and help him connect with people on the E9 board to get parts they want or need; an interior here, bumpers there and so on. I get a nice pair of cloisonné C pillar roundels and some other small bits my coupe was missing. The car is amazing other then the rust.

Now the few remaining parts include the aluminum trim in perfect shape, front grills, flag mirror, tail lights, and the chrome trim around the windows. Then I looked at the engine. It still starts right up. It is a 2800 CS with Webers. There is a Bosch blue coil, and the distributed still has points and condenser. But it seems to run very well. Seems a shame to part that out when someone might want a 2800 to keep their car original.

Thoughts?
