Strange, maybe the temp sending unit changed over the years? The assumed part number on the face is different as well.

Well, the alternate theory is that nothing can be calibrated in the circuit so somebody just wrote what they measured at manufacturing time...

No good data to add for my car history. Its a 1970CS with a 3.0 from a Bavaria, and who knows if the gauge is original.....

Your 2800CS has the Ivory font so it most likely is original.
