We like to report on what we did t our E9 today. I would like to start a thread on who from the E9 community we met today!
I found myself in New Orleans on business so made an impromptu call to Steve. He was available so we had a great evening of coupe chat, beer and classic "Nawlins food, gator and oysters. I had a blast driving his coupe and admit I got a bit heavy on the pedal. The triple side drafts really sing!
What fun!!
Thanks Steve

Thanks for dropping in on the city that care forgot! Stan is very passionate about our cars and am glad he enjoyed the old girl and her triples, we should have gotten dinner to go and kept driving. It's great meeting fellow members so look me up if you're down here on vacation or pseudo business (no one really comes here to work) and don't be surprised when you hear from me in your locale :)

My lady told me a few years ago that she's read numerous times that spending money on experiences and not things makes you the happiest. I told her that my Coupe is a thing, but it's opened up my life to many wonderful experiences, and I've gotten to meet many wonderful people.

Stories like this just prove how right I am. Glad you guys had a blast.

If it weren't for BMWs I'd have very few friends. 99% of my friends are from my involvement with BMWs since my first 2002 in 1989. I communicate and get together with Stan and Ski Coach regularly. Ski Coach and I meet at VSR every other week for a few hours.

Ofest is landing in Nawlins in 2017, so Steve has agreed that we can all stay at his place. I think I understood that right.

Why did they chose early July for Ofest? It will rain and be very hot and humid. October has fantastic weather so anyone know the thinking there?

I'd be happy to arrange an e9 gathering/party at a local restaurant for those attending and offer any other local insight on where to stay/what to do/where to eat. Or perhaps a river road plantation driving tour for those interested (e9 or otherwise including 2002's, e3's, e12, e28, e30 +-).

Casa Armstrong has an en-suite room available for the farthest traveller or other criteria TBD. Includes a garage space, all the wine you can drink, and free carb tuning :)

hmmmm .... perhaps i can offer a serious bribe to gain access ... a lot more excellent wine to contribute to the party.

Yes, my car buddies are my best friends.
There are many different personalities as well.
Makes it fun and interesting.

Most unusual Coupe story is when I was returning from Colorado (Ofest 2014) in my coupe by my self. I had been on many back roads and refused to get on I-70 to go back to Denver.
I had been visiting a cousin in Kremmling, CO and decided to go home the way I remember going as a teenager when the tunnel didn't exist.
I went over Berthoud Pass at 11000 feet. The Continental Divide.
I stopped at the top to read some signs and take some pictures and had a car guy approach me.
He proceeded to tell me how my car's design was partially stolen from a Corvair. What???
I remembered about the Hoffmeister Kink but all this other was new to me.
I have since looked it up and no that did not happen but saw it published just a week or so ago in something I read online. Funny how these stories never go away.
Love my coupe and the people I meet because of it.

That statement is explained by the lack of oxygen at 11000 feet...

Have driven over Berthold Pass too in Vern my '73 Tii when we were driving home after picking him up in Telluride, crossed the continental divide 7 times that trip.

Nice sign, never been there.
I thought the continental divide had to do with the upcoming US elections...
