Looking at Murray's and other member's affecionate names for their rides...

Perhaps it would be interesting to hear the logic behind them.

Blumax- obviously the color... perhaps Madmax was the inspiration or truly indicative of a secretive alter lifestyle and driving habits..:-D

The color and I think it may be a WW1 German pilot ace reference? Murray?

BLUMAX origin--not the movie or the award or--

Due its German origin and the car being masculine in character--many years ago I had referred to it as Max--and from time to time Blue--due its color--so not a big mystery.

BLUMAX was a local california based brand name for a car wax company many years ago and the owner had that plate on his car--Californias 1st generation of personalized plates were the 6 digit blue plate type. Later California expanded its personalized plates to 7 digits and my then lady (a car gal) grabbed BLUMAX1 as a surprise for me--so to this day it is officially BLUMAX1. With the demise of the car wax company years ago I have since simply referred to my loyal steed as BLUMAX. It seems to have worn well with time.

Funny story--years ago while driving east on the 91 freeway toward Riverside, CA at a brisk pace, I was overtaken by a couple of very excited Germans in an early Hartge BMW who were sure that my plate surely was associated with a recipient of the Blumax medal--the highest award granted for valor to German aviators of WW-1. Not wanting to disappoint them I smilingly acknowledged that was so.

The giveaway may have been the kills you have painted on Blumax's fuselage.

In any case I am afraid that the ace-of-aces medal recipient is the "Red Baron". It may be time to repaint Blumax in Verona red.
