There has to be a place in China

well - w+n only has one side - the passenger side. its on sale for 924 euro plus shipping. (1099 euro with VAT) ... a few weeks ago, it was 1249 euro for the same lens. now take into account that the majority of the world got the white reverse light - except France ... so this is rare. now consider that NOBODY (BMW dealers or W+N) has a NOS driver side lens. i feel happy that i have a NOS drivers side with a red turn signal.

I have been working to get the lenses done for almost a year. The level of complexity is remarkable. Pray to what ever god(s) might help this project come to fruition.
Lenses will likely be less than $300 a side.
Getting the mold right has been challenging. The manufacturer has been working at it and tells me he thinks he has it. The first test run looked beautiful but were just a little off as far as fit.

sounds like the guy keeps raising his price ... last time you mentioned a possible price it was around 200 bucks a side.

Is this the one in Sydney Stan ?

Stan,
You should contact this place in Georgia and see what they are up to.

They offer the service of removing the lens and replacing it back in the original chrome housing. They do this for Pagoda SLs from the 60s, which my buddy Keith has.

Might be a good resource.

Never thought I'd see the day when we'd be envying the Mercedes guys for being able to buy inexpensive parts!

Normally I would never "want" to buy anything from China, but at these prices there has to be someone who would make them for a lot less.

Yes, I agree.
Wonder if there is a copy write issue if someone else makes them or has that run out?

I'm in metro Atlanta. I could go visit this guy and see if he has any ideas about the whole assembly with lens. Not trying to undermine Stan but I think many of us could use the whole fixture.

time

its been too long ago
also if its remade
only 1mm need to be different
or even less or the lens could be
minutely different

i wanted to buy 2 full sets thru Stan - one set with red turn signals and one with amber ... but at 300 bucks a side, that is way too much money ... and we have been waiting quite a while for the next set of samples ... and the guy seems to be jacking up the prices unmercifully.

i have 4 very good frames and 2 that need to be chromed. i can take some lenses out to use as a mold and i have a few frames already taken apart for a mold to make the frames ... if that could be done affordably.
