I saw quite a nice (but red) 3.0csi at the renowned Haynes Motor Museum today. Was the first time I'd seen an un-flattering summary of the the E9 platform. Thought I'd share this for no particular reason:

These morons must be the Haynes that make underwear.

The 328 was pre-war not post war, made between 1936-1940, unless the Haynes curator uses a different textbook for WWII over there.

17MPG was pretty good until OPEC decided to resort to oil embargoes and cartel pricing.

My family had to sell our 1956 Chevy Belair around 1973. Not our fault or Chevrolet's fault, just OPEC and some sand kingdoms sheiks to blame.

Note to curator: The "much more successful" 6 series gets about 18MPG...
 
Funny that most of the description of the E9 is really a description of the 6 series, including the concluding sentence. Reads like it was written by someone who loves the 6 series and hates the E9s.
