Has anyone used these loops at the rear (I assume they are transport tie downs) for securing the rear for dyno pulls? We used the rear sub frame last year but these would be much more convenient.

I have looked at using them - a couple of times. I have trailered my car on occasion and yes... THey would be handy... If ... If.... If I trusted them.

I just don't

You'd have to pull straight down on them and then... I just don't think they are that stable a fitting or connnection to the rest of the car.

Just an opinion on my part. The front is equally as bad for finding goodies to tie to.

I think those loops were installed to facilitate pulling the bodies down the production line as the cars were assembled: 1) fairly low force, 2) before (much) rust had set in. I really don't think they're strong enough for use on a dyno or trailer.

To secure a coupe to a trailer, I just loop around the suspension. But, I'm not sure how you'd do it on a dyno since the wheels and half shafts need to be free to turn.

Rust? There could be rust?

I just use the tie down loops on the front for the dyno - it's the back that is going to be doing the work to kept the car from launching of the machine. I guess I'll stick to the subframe method until I weld some meat to the sheet metal.

When I trailer the car I run the webbing through the wheels (Alpina's) front and back so the suspension is not involved and ratchet them to the deck anchors. The flat deck operators have a web harness for each wheel with a ratchet and hook affair but my system is good enough.

What do you use to hold your coupe down when you trailer it?

Thanks, Steve

In the rear - I run straps from the output shafts (right adjacent to the diff) to the tie down in the trailer - crossing left to right and then the other one right to left. Meaning I have the strap looping around the output shaft adjacent to the diff then going to the opposite side tie down in the trailer.

In the front - I run the strap looping aroud the sway bar and drag link on each side to the front tie down. Not cross ways - just straight ahead.

On as side note - My car is at the LeMay Marymount Museum near Tacoma for the month of May.... I trailered it down. If the weather is not good - I will likely trailer it back north. If I do - I'll take some pics of my set-up.
