hi fellas,
im reassempling the front suspension after having my steering box rebuilt and replacing some other components. i had a HECK of a time getting the joints apart on the center tie rod (which i replaced), and am wondering how much torque should be applied on reassembly.
thnks in advance,

The issue isnt the amount of torque applied to the nut. The issue is that the interface between the tie rod end and steering arm corrodes a bit, making disassembly difficult.

Brush a little "Never Sieze" onto the taper before assembling, and the next disassembly will be a LOT easier.

This isn't to say that you shouldn't follow recommended torque specifications - just that you shouldn't blame the last guy for over-tightening the nuts.

Always

A little tough. I have a 5 lb hammer I made myself years ago, has a wedge shape to one end. I "relieve" the gazinta outside of the taper with a sharp blow, usually falls apart. I find a thin layer of grease actually holds up better than "never-sieze" To each their own.
