Was wondering what choices owners have made re: replacement rubber on stock 14" rims. I see that 175 70 14 was OE, and 195 70 14 an OE upgrade. Any other size upgrades recommended or to be avoided?
I run 215/60-14 on stock wheels. I have run 225 tires on the rear but was not all that happy with them. They looked good but were a little wide for the stock wheel and wheel well clearance can be an issue.
Michelin 205/70 VR 14 on stock wheels. Looks and works very well. No need to roll the fender edges in the front wheelarches, when using CSL springs. (It might be an issue with lowered suspension).
I m running 205/70 X14 Sumitomo's on stock wheels with stock suspension and am very pleased. I wanted a bit lower engine revs at highway speeds yet not changing the basic look and balance of the car. These tires do that and work very well in transitions, corners and while braking hard. I have no clearance issues and think they look right on the car too.
I have pictures if someone can tell me how to post them :?
Before that I had Yokohama 205/65/14's on standard 14" Alpina rims all round. Think the Yokohama part/pattern number was A509's. I am not sure if they are still being made. Good tyre - good grip and lasted ok.
They also went straight onto the standard wheel and suspension setup. No modification or adjustment required.
Malc - some of these tyres might still be on the Alpina 14" alloys I gave you?? You could maybe confirm....
I have a set of 14x7 Alpina's sitting in my garage with old 225/60-14 tires. It seems this tire is NLA in a H speed rating. All I can find on an internet search is raised white letter with a S speed rating. Can I run 205 or 215/60-14 tires on 14x7 Alpina wheels?
