Tool box hack

The plastic area that holds the trunk lid closed broke into 6 pieces,
it is hard and brittle, and obviously glue is no match for the weight
of the tools when you slam the trunk lid shut.

I hacked a fix using a CD. Is there a more elegant fix?
Some sort of Paul Cain repair kit for this issue?

For those coupe owners who still have the coveted toolkit, here is a bit of advice: Empty the toolkit and carry the tools in a separate pouch. This will preserve the toolkit tray and keep the tabs from breaking and the toolkit tray from cracking. Clearly, all the weight of all those tools will eventually win over the brittle 30 year old plastic.

Michael, that's exactly what I do as well. My tools are in a soft bag in the bin by the filler neck.
