My tools have been sitting in a box in my basement, about time they made it to the car. I repaired my clamshell but I don't want to carry the tools in it for fear of undoing all my work. Hence, the title of this post. Not looking for anything fancy or vintage but something sturdy and functional.

I do carry my OE tools in the factory, trunk lid toolbox, but mine is one of the newish ones that were made in the last 5 years or so and is not brittle yet. When I take one of my other collector cars for a long cruise, I gather what I think I need out of my shop tools and put it in one of these....

or one of these (I forget which one I have)....

I have a tool roll from Coupe King that I use for my tool kit tools. I didn't see the one I have on his web site. He has a shorter one for the 2002; the one I bought is larger and holds more tools.

I bought a great leather BMW Motorcycle tool roll with all the tools on ebay a few years ago it was fairly inexpensive compared to E9 & 2002 tool rolls.

I also bought a zippered black canvas travel case from Staples which fits all the metal tools in a small space in the trunk caddy bins.

I also tried a Vaultz Case, a black one with aluminum trim but to fit the tools it had to be special ordered.

Hi Doc. I have a nice tool roll that will hold all the tools that are in the tray.
Also let me know if you want the early kidney.
Harry

Thank You all. Glad nobody said to store in the clam shell.

Harry, my kidneys are already vintage "early" but they still really work!
