B blumax (deceased) Messages 1,015 Reaction score 2 Location Costa Mesa, CA Jun 23, 2009 #2 Rusty rivets--don't replace--instead--- Carefully clean them with fine bronze or steel wool and then coat with a clear coat for a future rust barrier. I have not had to do this in our much drier climate--but should be much easier to do than drilling out and replacing steel rivets in brittle plastic..
