Torque value

  1. 42-44 ft. lbs. (57-60 Nm)
  2. wait 20 minutes
  3. 57-59 ft. lbs. (78-82 Nm)
  4. run for 25 minutes
  5. tighten bolts 30-40º using a torque angle gauge

The head gasket I bought had instructions enclosed that specified three increments of torquing up to the 60 ft/lbs specified but no angle torquing after that. Wouldn't 30-40 degrees add at least another 20 ft/lbs? That's awfully tight.

When purchasing a head gasket, follow thier instructions due to the particular composition makeup.

The torque angle is to ensure the proper bolt streach or tension of the fastener.

I know it's not always possible, but try to use new bolts ( budget allowing).
