I currently have a 265/5 CR in the car. I also
have a 265/6 overdrive that I would like to put in.

Question: Can I use the same speed o cable
and hook up as I currently have? or do I
need something else?

The speed o stopped on the PO. If it is not the
gauge can the hook up in the trans be rebuilt?
I assume it has the plastic gears???

Thanks,

You can use the same speedo cable and drive.

If your overdrive trans came from an 81 or older donor, it will have the drive gear installed in the trans. If it came from a newer car, there will be a block-off cover in the hole where the cable drive goes. You'll have to remove that and also install the drive gear from the CR trans.

Speedo problem is most likely the gauge. They frequently go bad. Due to their design, getting them apart to rebuild is tricky and probably best left to a repair shop that specializes in these repairs.
