quick question, on the spare tire cover panel, there is a small piece of wood that is mounted behind the drivers rear tire - is that trim covered in elephant skin or gray vinyl like on the panels next to the tool box?

hmmm ... Chris, are you saying yes they are covered in elephant skin or yes, they are covered in the thinner vinyl on the trunk lid (around the tool box).

Hi RS, on my 74 3.0 that wooden piece was individually covered in elephant skin, the same material the trunk floor that it is mounted to is covered in. I took mine off, cleaned the piece and re-stapled it on. At least that's the way in was on my 74, others might be different-

If you need a good piece big enough to cover it I have some clean original skin From the 74 because I did not use it in the trunk, so let me know if you need it, I think something like 8X8'' would do it?

thanks Peter, i figured it was elephant skin, just wanted to be sure. i am putting new skin on my panels as my panels had a gray vinyl on them, not elephant skin ... i pulled every staple out and am ready to cut the new elephant skin and staple it on.
