Trunk Will Not Lock: Fixed

The key turns the lock fine 90 degrees. Problem is the button is always pushing the latch tab. I've been unable to find a photo, drawing or any reference what the latch tab should look like, search turned up the opposite problem. Any assistance is appreciated.

2x4 locksmith

The old way to open a stuck trunk was to stick a short peice of 2x4 up against the lock and smack it.:-o

The arm sits on top of the small cam of the lock. The cam rotates, moves the arm and pops the mechanism open,

So it's either bent, closed when it should be open( rotate the oppisite end - just like the door striker) , or the back panel got pushed in a bit or rusted and a piece of metal was used to build it up again.

Or the spring inside it broke.

Bent the striker up until the cylinder in the lock position cleared it. Took my time, lots of test fits unit I got it to work correctly.
