Trying to find out what motor is in coupe

The coupe has a newer motor and 5 speed transmission in it. Not sure what year or car the motor came from. See attached photo. It has the following numbers on the intake 3.2/3.5 and 1270676 and the head has this number on it 1277358.

Can somebody tell me what these numbers mean. And with this new motor will the wiring be a nightmare to figure out?

And car has not run for a few years. Looks to have had some mice in it. Could have damaged some wires.

Those are casting numbers and not much use. Is there a vin on the side of the head (a tag) or on block above starter? You can plug that into RealOEM. Looks a 635/735 intake manifold.

Assuming that motor was transplanted complete from the donor car, that looks like a B34 setup, which would be from an '85-'88 E28 535i/is, or '85-'87 E23 735i or E24 635CSi.

Fairly simple setup, if it was done properly there shouldn't be much in the way of nightmares.
