It's been a very long time since I've had to do any work to my car (except replacing the freggin fuel lines that seem to crack every 6 months), anyhow I'm trying to get together some parts/prices/sources so if anyone can help me please send me a note-even if it's just some advice. I'll post some pictures once I get moving on this so people can chime in and hopefully offer some advice on how to get this car in daily driver shape. It was worked on in Mexico and some things are good, some bad, and some ugly but I think it's generally a pretty quick project. Below is what I'm looking for. It's an Euro 72 (I think) 3.0 CS. super strong engine and 5 speed.
Need
Washer bottle/pump proper hose
Hood insulation
Front windshield rubber seal
Rear Windshield rubber seal
two triangular-ish plates to the rear subframe
Break line fasteners and stock break lines to rear calipers
Driver foam dead pedal
seat belts

We would all love to see photos as your "pretty quick project" evolves. How are you defining "pretty quick." It is an E9 project and we all know how those can go.

Week? Months? Years? Good luck.

One thing I have learned through this ordeal. E9 and quick job do not really go hand in hand.

Finding the parts will be an experience for you. Getting them in this current environment will drive you insane.

Right you are td. Peter, keep your search domestic. Anything beyond our boarders will be a net loss in too many ways.

The only exception, and I just received a package from Germany shipped Saturday - right, four days ago - is to have the seller declare it a Gift with value less than $100.
It probably took those four days because the major shippers have shut down to the US. I see FedEx planes with 100 small gift packages winging their way across the Atlantic to us.

It has been a while, but I purchased these items from RMEuropean here in the US.

Washer bottle/pump proper hose: Reservoir, hose,
Hood insulation: Classic 9 leather shop
Break line fasteners and stock break lines to rear calipers: Brake hoses, clips are not showing on RM, so they may be back-ordered. Might want to check with Maxamillian. Part is # 34321117804
seat belts: Recent posts on this forum. Blue Devils used to be the source, but he is not active here. Someone may have an email (I lost it)

I would try your local BMW shop of Maxamillian for the windshield seals

Peter,

washer bottle - W+N has a repop that is much less expensive than the one from BMW. the pump is quasi problematic as the bracket on the one that W+N sells is not the correct one
hood insulation - classic 9 leather shop - https://www.classic9leathershop.com/bmw-e9-hood-liner-heat-shield
front + rear windshield gaskets - BTS autoteille
triangular plates to rear subframe - try either Al Taylor <[email protected]> or @TomHom in Germany
brake line stuff -
driver foam dead pedal - CS Werk (germany)
seat belts - does the car have the roof hook? if so, then Blue Devil (see the FAQ top sources)

Until the thrust plates can be attached and the rear subframe is attached correctly-

Did you fix that?

Make best friends with a local BMW dealer's oldest parts guy. Surprising what is sometimes available. BMWCCA members get 10% off.

This is the way! My local guy Mike has been very helpful in sourcing parts and hoses for me. He knows some tips and tricks with E12/E24 parts that work for my Weber carb setup.

Ooooo thanks everyone. I'm on it! Don, subframe pieces first-don't worry and I'll post some pics in case there are others who have seen (and fixed) some of these issues. Luckily I have my coupe right next to this one for some comparison though the underside has been pretty modded. Does anyone recommend a source for the steel fuel lines? I ordered a couple from Germany and they came in a coil, not fun getting those straight :-(

When I was looking for a fuel line for my 1972 they were NLA, @HB Chris recommended looking at the 1974 (I think) part number and that worked. It was pre-formed and ran from just forward of the rear axle to the engine compartment. I got it through Maximilian and I am sure it was imported from Germany.

OK, Got the sub frame connectors on the way, thanks Al, now need the fuel line(s) - I can modify, but is there a part number or source anyone has? Thanks!

Excuse me?

"OK, also checked W&N for windscreen seals- over $400.00 each seal."

Try 403.00 euros which is $472.00 add 52.50% tariff plus shipping plus currency conversion at 3%, plus sales tax, plus brokerage fee...

Thats 851.00 COST! - no profit.

I'm sitting this one out.

No parts sales.
