Turn indicator rubbers

Help, car failed rego last week because of faulty front turn signal, traced to split rubber cap that holds the base of the lamp holder onto the back of the light unit.
It is a rubber cap that slips over the wire and holds the spring base for the bulb, found a part number 61 11 1 353 049 but no stock, help anyone got any or a replacement part or mod. No blinkers means no driving, I can't be the first one to hit this problem.

my impression is that those rubber covers are purely there more for dust protection, they do not hold the lamp bases in place as such. My car came without those rubber covers on both sides and the blinkers work fine, i suspect the lamp base of your indicator has just worn out through the holding points. Just simply taping up the bases may work.

I should add that I have got those rubber caps now, they do make the area looks tidier, so worth getting anyway.

The bulb base can be loose in the turn signal base, it is peened in and can fall out easily, check that first. The boot is just a dirt protector.
 
Thanks for the heads up Gavin and Chris, I have ordered a set from Fred's German eBay site and was under the impression it would be job done !!!
I will take a closer look at the lamp base, Chris do you mean they are just pushed into the cast lamp holder? What then provides any resistance to stop the contact simply being pushed out when changing a bulb?

The lamp base is pressed in from the back side and the housing is then pinched or peened to hold the assembly in place. If it is loose when you insert the bulb it won't make a good contact with base or the wires may ground out and blow a fuse. Stan's coupe had this issue which we fixed.
 
Thanks Chris, I'll go and have a look now, last night with the help of a torch wasn't the best environment to fully understand the problem.

Super Glue to the Rescue

I had one side that was loose and did not make good contact. A bit of cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) did the trick!
