Two tone e9s?

I was curious to see what a coupe would look like in two tone.

When doing a search, I remember reading a message on this board talking about a member (possibly named Art?) who had a Fjord/Polaris one. Does anyone know if this is true? Are there any photos by any chance?

Art Wegweiser does have the Fjord/Polaris. If memory serves, the car is Polaris with fjord "swaths" from the longitudinal crease on the door to just below the aluminum trim with a 1/4" stripe surrounding it.
Art said it was factory original. I have never seen another example, live or picture

Yes, race versions have a lot of "home made" two tones. Not terribly elegant in my book.

The British Turkis with black vinyl top are the only more or less "official" ones. They look quite interesting although the darker top makes it disappear a bit which detracts for the overall shape of the car. A color with similar luminance would work better in my opinion.

That is why I am really curious to see photos of the Art Wegmeiser car. Especially if it is an "official" color scheme. Does anyone have any idea of where I might any?

Thankyou very much Steve. That is very interesting.

It is a little jarring at first to see that beautiful side being horizontally cut by a color line. Maybe it reminds me of my first coupe which had been grafted with a "protective" moulding strip all along the same line by the previous owner. Horribibble.

It would be interesting to see other angles of the car to see how well this looks all around. Personally I would have probably done a smooth gradation from one color to the other instead of that hard line but I would love to see other angles before deciding.

I highly doubt that it is original, maybe done by a dealer in Germany. Someone would have to show me a pic of the Karmann plate first!

Art's son Paul is very active with vintage BMWs and on Facebook, so he would likely know details. If memory serves, Art sold the 2-tone back to Europe before he died.

She's named Ilse, Art drives her during the summers in Pittsburgh. He's getting on in years, think he's 80 or close to it and has some health issues from smoking for decades. His son Paul, a good friend, keeps the CSi in good mechanical condition, the car is starting to show some age. Patina is the polite term.
