Hi, i'm from the UK and have a 1972 E9 CS which was pulled apart and partially restored about 11 years ago by my Dad.
It never got the the spray shop and has been stuck in my Dads garage ever since under a pile of tools and other car parts.

After looking through the e9coupe forum, i've seen some beautiful examples and I want get this project rolling again to try and get her finished. It looks so sad it being half finished and locked away!:(

The body on the whole is strong and rust free, as a lot of the rot was stopped and curedlast time - the gearbox and engine were rebuilt but haven't run for 11 years either...:?

Hopefully we can get some pics up soon,

Are there any other UK members active on this forum by the way?

Welcome aboard! I hope you get the coupe back on the road; Love to see some pic's.

There are members from your area here that should chime in...

I would do an engine gasket refresh as well as purge and replace all other fluids...Also, brake hoses, fuel lines, and vacuum hoses...plus a lot of recommendations by others to follow.

Hey Will,

I am based in London as are a good few others. first step is to get her out and take some pics - then we can try and gauge where you stand better. The mechanics are failry straightforward so concentrate on the body first.

My love affair with them started a bit like yours, my dad bought the car in 1979 and in 1982 it was parked up. As a kid i fell in love with it and always said i wanted it and eventually it got restored and I have it!

Jaymic are good for parts as are walloth and nesch in germany.

Welcome aboard,

Rohan

Thanks guys, i'll try and get some pics tommorrow morning as I'm off over to make a start on clearing the garage.

I think there's some spare parts for the CS and some other cars in the garage -front wings and a bonnet from a 2800 or a 2500 (i think!), water pumps and gasket sets, about 4 sets of BBS or BMW alloys (all in need of a refurb) sills and other body parts and some old Audi bits aswell.

I know there are some 2002 and 1602 parts there amongst other things, so should be fun attempting to see whats what as i've had a look at Jaymic and the prices for new bits are not cheap for the CS!

Ok, so got to the garage today and had a look at the CS - its been some time...:-?

I think this is going to need a hell of a lot more work than i thought!

The l/h sill is rotten, as is the bottom of the front wing...:(

great to see another car in as bad condition as mine ! I have only just got mine also so we can swap horrors !

Haha I know, it's in a bad way, worse than I thought. Next step is to get it out and get underneath to see how bad things are!
I'm sure more horrors are lurking beneath....

Agreed, it all depends on how much we can do ourselves. The bodywork is going to be the killer.

I'm wondering if this is something worth investing time and money into at the moment. I love the car, and want to see it finished, but the amount of welding needed on top of whats been done in the past seems a bit daunting...but I've seen some E9's worse than this - i take it rust is a big issue on the E9?

I wonder what it would be worth now to sell as a project or break for parts :?

Anyway, we need it outside first to check over properly and see what it's likely to cost and take it from there...
