Can anyone assist me in locating replacement seals for the hydraulic end of the twin servos fitted to RHD cars? Does anyone do a service kit for these items? Best, John.

John , I've just spent every evening for the last week trying to establish if such a seal kit existed .
http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20367
After speaking to every contact I have and pursuing every lead generated I have to say that no such kit seems to exist ( although I have still to hear from a possible source in New Zealand ) . They were also used on the E12 ,'02 and E24 range , although I believe that the '02 unit is smaller . It is for an early E24 that I seek them.
The Ate T50 range was used on MB models too and although other booster servos are available they are rated circa 1.2 -1.7 to 1 boost ratio whereas the Ate unit in our cars is 3.5 to 1 .
There are videos on You Tube showing them being overhauled and it is simple but the seals are unobtainable. I find it quite bizarre that neither Ate or any third party can supply such a small component .
I considered taking the cylinder part of the booster to a seal manufacturer /supplier to see if they could supply replacements but frankly the time and effort involved would be too great from where I stay down in deepest SW Ireland besides I have secured a used unit from someone who did just that and it wasn't successful.
I have found two remanufacturers ,
http://www.linwar.com/ They have quoted me an eye watering £375 plus Vat plus delivery .
http://www.pastparts.co.uk/ A good friend contacted them on my behalf and there quote was a more reasonable £240 .
Both re sleeve the original and fit more readily available sized seals .
It looks like I have no alternative but to go with the latter , unless you are more successful than I ..........
Good luck
Don

There is a guy on 02forum.co.uk who had some seal kits made up, but that may have been a one off. There are 2 brake reconditioners that I know of in Aus. who have seals, but I don't think they sell them. They charge about A$400 per unit for rebuild, so probably no advantage to you given the distance. I would recommend Power Brakes S.A. (they have a website) if you were to consider the shipping viable.
Cheers Ian

He's called Yoda . I left a message on the thread relating to the booster seals but have not heard from him as yet . On at least two occasions in the thread he emphasises that the seals are expensive .........
I'd have to get confirmation that they would fit our size of booster as I was told by an E12 Guru that the '02 booster is smaller.

I have a potential source for the seals

I have recently rebuilt mine (RHD) with seals from two sources, Pirtek for some and the diffficult seals from a guy called Rob in Devon, I will ask him if he has any more. That will take a week as I am away at the moment. Mr Bump knows Rob well so may be able to help.
John Castle of BMW UK Car Club is currently planning a write up and also researching more suppliers, once sorted we can share, or join and get it along many other great articles sent directly. John is a real wizard so these are great newsletters.

A while back i was able to get some NOS complete repair kits for these remote servos.
The E12, E24 and some E21 had ATE T50s. However it is confirmed that the two small pistons inside were different sizes than the ones installed on E9 and 02,

Exterior wise they also looked different but shared a similar outer diameter

Is there anyway that we can put some meat on the bones of this thread in as far as getting some actual contact details or telephone numbers that I or we could approach to secure seals to enable me to rebuild my servo as currently it will not pass it's annual road test .
Thanks

Hi guys, I had my servos done by a company here in Auckland (NZ) called Sterling Brake and Clutch, I'm pretty sure they ended up boring the servos out and putting stainless sleeves in them, not sure if they ended up using original size seals though ( I'm guessing they did).
Anyway, google them up for their contact details and drop them a line, they were very good to work with.

Good luck
