Looks like very expensive fun! I have a piece of mountain property and occasionally contemplate such a vehicle; then my wife reminds me my automotive hobby is topped out.

Actually....Spending extra up front makes it easier to maintain. There are many trucks like this out there, although finding a good one is becoming harder and harder.
I found the fact that these were military maintained to be a big plus during my years of ownership.
I would probably do the off-road thing today with a BMW GS, having learned many lessons driving the Unimog off-road--the biggest one of all would be that less is more...
I raced a SAAB 96 in the SCORE races, Baja, Parker, Firecracker and a few others. It was class 6, one step above (or below) class 13, stock VW bugs. I think it would be cool to do those races with a 2002. Ah, dreams!

I don't believe that for a second. After you're done with that nice CSL from North Carolina, you'll be wanting a 2002 turbo or E30 M3. Or .... maybe a convertible Jaguar...
