Probably the hook up for the electric chokes, electric idle valves for carbs In the wiring system regardless if you had carbs or fuel injection, just not used in the FI cars
You´ll find this as connector "37" in the wiring diagram
In my ´74 CSI it looks like this:
There are three connectors (all solid connections no plugs), for the the centre one there`s only a connection on one side.

The difference is due to the fact that the early versions use a dedicated resistor "22" to lower the voltage at the ignition coil once the drive started.
One base of the resistor is used as a terminal to connect two wires.
Whereas the later versions use the resistor cable. To connect the three wires a separate terminal was installed.
