I have the following electrical items working finally
1. Headlights (high and Low)
2. Parking Lights
3. Handbrake Light (on dash)
4. 4 way hazards and indicators
5. Brake lights
6. Brake level light on dash
7. Fuel tank level

I'm still trying to get back-up lights working. The previous owner put in a newer motor and 5 speed (1986). So not sure if switch in transmission is working. Need to trace the wiring first.

I need to get some of the interior lighting working to (glovebox and interior lights).

I have the motor turning over but not started yet.

Thanks for all the help on the forum to date.

Hey JD - do you have the wiring diagram from the workshop manual? If not I have sene it posted online or I can do so when I am home.

Regards,

Rohan

Thanks for your help. I have a wiring diagram but I'm having problem with finding the wiring for it.

Based on diagram wire should be from fuse box #7 (1.0 GN-WS) to back-up switch at trans and from there a 1.0 BL-WS to rear lights.

Will look again tonight after dinner.

Not a good night. Found that back-up switch is on all the time. Appears switch is not working.

After that I started to check things out around fuse box. Now things are acted weird. With 4 way flasher on the fuel tank gauge o from empty to full.

With ignition off and key out the front headlight come on when you turn indicator on. Indicator right causes right headlight to turn on.

I'm getting frustrated at this car. Before I get really upset and turned lights off in garage and came inside.

Not sure why this happen. Short in wiring or power getting from one wire o another. Frustrated and tired

If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it. All I was doing was working around the fuse box. Could it be the 4 way flasher relay? Thanks

Try again tomorrow night.

Backup switch could be shorted, or the line shorted. Not serious.

The flasher thing is with contact on or off? The flasher has 12V both directly from battery and through ignition. There is a fault mode where the flasher can short them both so you get 12V without ignition to systems that get 12V only with ignition on. Easy to test, unplug red/white wire from flasher pin 30, symptom should go away.

Front headlight with turn indicator on is strange. Only parking light should come on when you use turn stalk and ignition off. Is it possible the parking light is wired to headlight? Do you have the euro or US wiring for parking lights?

Sounds like you need patience, no need for an exorcist yet.

On Euro coupes the turn signal activates the city light on each side when key is off, perhaps wire is crossed. Is yours a US coupe? It also helps to add a Location to your profile.

All of those faults can only be caused by back feeding!! Indicates you have a faulty Earth!!
First and most important part of wiring is clean and check all of your earth points!!!

The car is a euro coupe from holland with newer motor and 5 sod manual. Original trans was an auto.

Not sure if wiring is still setup for euro coupe headlight indicators with ignition off.

When 4 way flasher is on the fuel tank level gauge moves from full to empty at same frequency as bleeping of 4 way flasher

Thanks for help

Oh, in that case the ground circuit was left behind in Holland...

You could measure if the ground at the instrument bounces relative to the battery when the flasher is on.
