Upper firewall insulation

The new material does not look like an exact match for the stock....anyone verify this?

I bought the part about 9 months ago and it is not the same as the old stuff.
 
Thanks for confirming...I am confused with non original parts like these...

With their high prices, one would think you can get the real-deal...

At this point it is the real deal or as close as you are going to get. It is OEM.
 
While it is OEM, fitment is the big question. I just replaced mine and there was trimming which I thought would have been BMW's job before selling to the public. Surface texture has also changed over the years but it does look good once attached.

Word to the wise - check fitment before you spray your goo all over her.
 
Its just a shame, Used parts sometimes have more value if the OEM is not original....although not in this case, but for some parts.

Hi Chris

Who is Mario? I can confirm that the fit is not great. The cutouts don't line up when the ends line up and vs versa. I'm guessing they changed the color and texture for a reason to get more in line with the more modern higher quality sound deadening materials used today...

I've ordered the upper insulation from BMW but I can't figure out what the P/N is for the lower panels. I can't see them in the picture in Real OEM but in my car they are the panels on the engine side of the firewall opposite the footwells.

Any help?
