My coupe has a front anti-sway bar that is 28.67mm diameter-about 1 1/8". The PO put it in the car over 14 years ago in Hawaii. The red urethane in the rear sway bars look the same. The red urethane bushing is 1 1/32" ID and 1 7/16" OD. Both bushings and the red urethane end links are now pink and dry and powdery. I bought new red urethane end links. The restoration shop told me to look for rubber bushings since they have seen urethane dry up and crumble in our South Fla. weather. Does anyone know where to buy rubber and/or urethane bushings to fit this big sway bar?

Doesn't W&N carry them in both sizes? I have a vague memory from when I had to order mine a while back.

Wes--You are correct. W&N offers 2 sizes on front sway bars and the hardware--19mm and 23 mm. The bushings and end links are rubber.

My sway bar is much bigger--28.67mm. I saw that Ireland has a 25mm sway bar. Korman has a 23 mm bar. Both of them have urethane bushings.
My sway bar is even heavier than my Coco mats.....:)

wouldn't it take years of being outside for those plastic bushings to deterioate? I'd just put back new urethane ones on if you can't find rubber ones (which I'd think would wear faster) and just grease the hell out of them.

Rob--Good idea. I found out these are ST52015 Anti-sway bars. The front is 28mm and the rear is 22 mm. The Suspension Techniques web site lists them for E24 cars and not the E9. But a search of the Forum confirms that they do fit the E9. And they have been on my car for many years. The only bushings for these huge bars are Urethane.

My opinion only. Don't use urethane bushings. Look cool, don't last, squeak and don't really offer any improvement over rubber. Our cars are approaching 50 years and many still have their original rubber bushings. Just saying.....

I know firm suspension is not for everyone, but I’m a big fan of Poly urethane in an appropriately upgraded suspension system.
Upgrading to stiffer shocks, springs/sways and using oem (or god forbid original) rubber bushings makes no sense to me. But equally, upgrading every busing to PU and keeping stock shocks and springs is counter productive..

Properly installed and lubricated, I’ve never had problems with squeaking, and there is a noticeable improvement in feedback over rubber.

James, keep in mind your beautiful roads with thicker asphalt, c/w ours. I would love poly all around but my teeth would not.
