One of my cars is a US `74 CS which now has a FI engine, installed by a well known garage in SoCal.
The original gas tank has a modified pump/level gauge installed, with the result that the fuel meter on the multi instrument shows 1/4 when the tank is 3/4 full.

Before buying a proper Euro, 2 holed tank, with appropriate giver and breather, I wonder what owners in the US do when they have changed the engine to a 3,5 FI engine.....

La Jolla sells a pre-pump pickup with sending unit to use with the CS tank when converting to FI. Haven't installed it yet but soon (when the last bits and pieces of the system show up). I can post a photo later if you want.

In my conversion I installed the pre-pump combined with sender unit. The sender unit slips down the center of the pump/pick up. Unfortunately - and I think this is the case with La Jolla's install as well - is that both the pump pick-up and sender do not reach the bottom. I forget by how much, but it is significant. I solved part of the problem by making a custom extension for the suction end/pre-pump piece with rubber fuel hose and soldered wire so it reaches the bottom of the tank. There is no easy way to extend the sender unit. So when the sender reads "empty" there is still 1/4 tank of fuel left. At least I can use the remaining fuel.

I am considering cutting a second new hole in the CS tank for the original correct length sender to occupy and simply not use the newer (shorter) sender unit.
