I used seam sealer between the cab and box on my daughters Dodge van we're working on and thought I'd post here in case it helps someone else in the future. I used SEM 29362 sealer that can be painted. I've never used sealer before so I had no idea how it would go but I'm happy with the results.

- Taped a border/edge
- Applied sealer with gun. I did learn that you can't "fix" areas once you've spread it out without it grabbing and showing an area that looks repaired, so I applied just enough sealer to do one continuous pass down the seam.
- Used a body filler spreader and curved it into the corner to make an arch.
- One pass down the entire length
- Removed the tape immediately after finishing the knock down.
- Once cured it's very firm but not completely hard. The cab and box are bolted together solid so I don't expect any problems with it cracking.

I really love the SEM products. They will even respond when I have a question. Just this month I emailed an inquiry and received, the very next day, an answer from a Senior Technical Support Specialist. Totally addressed my concerns and provided confidence in the direction I should take for best result. Your results look great Dan!

we used seam sealer on the tops of my inner fenders and along the bottom edges of the hood. they used a self leveling type (not sure who's product it is), but it provided a very good, paintable surface. they were also able to do it with a very fine line.

I have used this for years also. A trick I learned. I have a small spray bottle with paint thinner. You can spray the sealer once applied and it will make a superficial layer soluble and you can just run your finger over it and smooth it out...if that's what you want. You also should spray your gloved finger so the sealer does not stick to the glove. The thinner evaporates quickly so you need reapplication. Thinner can be used for removal as I have found this stuff gets everywhere no matter how careful.

NB: This works on silicon caulking as well......
