I have heard from a source that there may be a type of valve cover gasket for the m30 with a rubber sealing bead integral with the gasket. More like some of the newer style gaskets (as on my Audi). Has anyone heard of such a thing? If not, which brand/source of gasket and sealant combo would you recommend? Felpro? Elring? other?

I have generally had poor success with getting a good seal under the cam cover. I have tried various sealants in the past with differing degrees of success. Unfortunately, if it seals really well it is like glue. So pulling the cover to do valve adjustments is a major undertaking - scraping the old residue off.

Just looking for a better way...

Thanks,

I use an Elring gasket without any sealant. Just make sure that the surfaces are clean and that you don't over tighten the valve cover and that you tighten it evenly.
