Took the old girl to the new race track here in New Orleans which is going to be a very nice facility - the local BMWCCA had a meeting there then a parade lap on the track - here's a vid taken by my wife who is afraid of any excessive speed at all and wouldn't stop being a backseat driver!

I was the only old (and slow) car in the field and it was challenging to even keep up with the new technology but the e9 drew the crowds after :p

Yea they said if they put elevation in it that the track would sink - it's an engineering marvel as it is to build it in a swampland.

Looks like a fantastic track. Pretty flat! When will it be finished. Lots of run off. Pretty safe to test the limits.

They have 1 of 2 tracks completed, plus they say they have the largest kart track in the USA - it's pretty cool. The other track should be done in 6 months. Different tracks for different racing - the one now is for novices and club racing (with lots of run off as noted), the 2nd one will be more difficult and challenging. They have an area with individual garages to rent with living quarters above them. Restaurant and corporate hospitality area. The kicker - an automatic weapons shooting range on the premises. An adult male playground.

Thanks for posting. Looks like Sebring without the potholes. Also looks very close to downtown NO. Nice to see a city that appreciates the positive economic impact such a track brings. Hopefully Grand Am etc will see fit to race there.
Nice Petri too.

No doubt - right before we were leaving pit row to go on the track she was expressing her concern and I asked her if she wanted to get out before we went - but she decided to go on with it. Hard to drive fast with the wife asking questions and that was the first time I've ever driven a car on a track. We actually hit 90mph on the back straight but I said only 80 to not upset her more :)

very nice steve,
but I wonder if your wife would not have been there you would use a bit more of rpm´s in that engine !:):):)
regards

...so ... she is a controller !, they all are i'm afraid !
am i right when i say i am hearing a female voice saying: "...is this car ever built to go fast ..." ?
that is a subtle perception !
