W&N SS exhausts on sale til Wednesday.

I've been envying those big time. I figured that with shipping and the hardware and hangers kits they sell for them and USD conversion it would total about $1200 until the 27th. Still a pretty good deal.

Didn’t I ask to buy one from you like a week ago? :D

The ugh is the noise I make when my heart strings are pulled. So much want!

Ughh? You don’t like them?
I’ll listen...

923.00 euros. Everything but the manifolds.

This is really nice stuff. I bought 4 sets because they regularly run out of stock and then nothing for a year.

How do you compare the sound to a stock system? I've heard that the sound is different. More open, so more bass and with a higher frequency note as well, possibly the resonance of the differently shaped stainless steel panels inside.

Wondering also how the W&N sound compares to the Coupe King exhaust. I am interested in something a little (okay, a lot) sportier than the stock exhaust. The headers will already change that a bit. I'd imagined I'd head the direction of a Magnaflow type of muffler like the CK system. But the W&N system does look beautiful on the car - like a shiny upgrade to the original architecture. Id love to learn of others experiences. Thanks!

I have my car at Don's in SF.... and ordered one of WN's kits for it. I had a nice 'throaty' exhaust note before. Will be interesting to see what this one turns out to be (after the car comes all together).

My coupeking exhaust on a 3.5L motor and headers sounds great; much better than the stock exhaust on my other coupe. Very sports car esque. The stock exhaust on my admittedly poorly tuned stock engine sounds ok; much more mellow and refined. When I step on the gas on the stock setup, things just get louder; when I step on the gas on the coupeking setup, it starts to sing. That music did come at a hefty price though as Don mentioned.

i dont understand the cost
you can get 3 stock setups for the same pric3 and lasts longer.
i paid 450 for a custom setup for my headers and the muffer guys know stainless is
really just awaste of money

Could you explain? Because i don't know if i understood you correctly - you are saying that stainless exhaust is worse than standard one?

Alan,

I don’t doubt that you will disagree with me or tell me once again that I don’t know what I am talking about. With that said, you are comparing apples to oranges. You have an aluminized steel exhaust that uses standard compression bends. If you look at your exhaust the diameter decreases at each bend then opens back up after the bend. Nearly all prefabricated performance exhaust systems use mandrel bent tubing. The mandrel benders are significantly more expensive and you won’t find them at your basic exhaust repair shop. The benefit of a mandrel bent exhaust is that the diameter stays the same throughout the bend, and you get better flow.

I agree that stainless is a bit of a waste in California. Not that coupes are driven in the snow and rain but people from California know little about the pain and suffering that midwest and northeast car enthusiasts go through while working on rusty mild steel exhaust systems. The other main benefit of Stainless Steel is the ability polish it. It makes a lot of sense for a show car or garage queen.

I would call @OCCoupe into the conversation. The connoisseur of coupe. When he built his award winner I think he researched every aspect of the car to come up with the parts he chose and he went with the SS exhaust from Fritz Bits, i think .
As I recall, he said it gave a good exhaust note but not as loud as the CK system
