A.I.R., Allentown, PA. supposedly known well to BMW guys, restored my car in '86.

Anyone with info on these guys? Anyone else's restored by these guys?

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

A kid here got a 2002 as a graduation present from his dad. The car was beautiful, but in a couple years the trans was out for synchros, and there were rust issues resurfacing. He had to repaint.

for the money (8k) I thought this was pretty poor, but perhaps I was influenced by the exterior appearance and thought the mechanicals would be as nice. Not.

I went to look at a coupe being sold by Peter Kell in the Allentown area. He used to be in the BMW restoration business. Is this who you are asking about?

According to the Register docs, Thom Huth is listed with A.I.R. in Allentown PA, it went out of business and was taken over by a Jeff's Automotive in Easton, PA with a contact person of a Scott Hughey.

i used to buy a lot of stuff from Bimmer Parts. they were always good to me + reasonable prices. about 10 to 12 years ago, i called them and they answered the phone as another company ... seems like they got linked with maximillian or another company like that - brain cells dieing in my old age, as i just don't remember. must be early half-heimers, old-timers, or what ever that disease is.

Thanks everyone.

It's interesting to try to find out why a car from Texas was shipped to PA for resto. Hourly rates here usually are competitive with just about anywhere. Not to mention the cost of shipping both ways.

It's back in Texas now after owners that started here then NJ and FL.

It may have been because back in the day AIR was one of a few that advertised as "specializing" in coupes so if the owner wasn't handy or knew of a local facility capable of doing coupe work he sent it off? Have you tried to contact the PO's?

Thanks everyone.
