Thank you for sharing this website link.
I think in 1974 there was a 3.0 CSL at a french rally. It wasn't a factory rally car. In Germany also some 2800 Cs, and 3.0 CS raced as well:

So it is clear that several E9 raced at rallies in the 70's.
About these cars: if those 2 cars were made by the BMW factory (Motorsport department ?), then i would be the most interesting part of the E9 story.
But: i think that something is not correct with this story. What we know so far, that the first E9 based factory race product was the 3.0 CSL Bat in 1973, which raced at European Touring Car championship. Before that (1969 - 1972) only the tuners (Alpina, Schnitzer, and Koepchen, and various french racing teams) represented the E9 (2800 CS) at the touring car races in Europe or hillclimb races in Germany (Schnitzer 2800 CS). So if the BMW policy was : "leave the racing for the tuners", then why would BMW create a rally car based on the 2800 CS in 1972? It simply won't fit into the E9 history.
Of course BMW Motorsport made factory rally cars, but those were BMW 2002 cars, driven by varous drivers, like Jean Todt. It was in 1973 or in 1974. That car had white color with some motorsport colors.
This CS has Blue / White color, which is 1, not official Motorsport color (Motorsport deparment started in 1972 !), and 2, the color of this car is used at a Koepchen tuned cars (2002 / 2800 CS).
Althought blue / white paint can be seen on several race / rally BMW car in 1972.
