So my washer pump is shot, not sure how an inner brass gear can crack. The prices of new ones are outrageous as it is NLA. Even W&N are expensive. Has anyone used the Porsche Windshield Washer Pump - VDO 823955651 ? Looks identical to me and 49 bucks at FCP.

Sure looks the same

That is a URO part and made of ceramic material. The mounting plate is different, at least on my 635, but that can be swapped out easily. My original is plastic housing so I am looking still. I bought mine at FCP and although it is physically the same I want plastic. Originals come apart easily and maybe can be rebuilt

I deleted the whole pump/washer setup. My brain releases endorphins when I remove stuff from the E9...

Thank you all. I think I can make it fit if it does not out of the gate. I will let everyone know, I bit the bullet ans ordered it.

Bert, the one from FCP is VDO. I think it is plastic. I'll contact you with the details.

Wish I could delete but no washer=no inspection sticker.

Hey Bob if it's plastic let me know I have several of the correct brackets, IIRC

Follow up. The Porsche pump is identical to our pump VDO/Continental but the mounting bracket is obviously different. Removing the front face plate allows pump removal from the bracket and transfer. Re-seals without a leak, works like a charm, same pos/neg terminal orientation. Suprised that the internal gears were still brass! I have enclosed the package and part#. This was 49 bucks at FCP Euro.

Bert NB: Plastic like the original. The face plate has the manufacture date on it and cannot be swapped do to the gasket that is glued to it.

I have swapped pumps and brackets in the past but some have a different orientation of the four tiny screws which prevents a swap from taking place, you are lucky.
